KC Jazz Summit Itinerary


Our final jazz contest of the season is coming up! Our schedule for the Kansas City Jazz Summit Wednesday, April 24 through Thursday, April 25 is as follows:


Wednesday


6:30 a.m. – Report to the band room to load (please eat before you arrive)

7:00 a.m. – Depart high school

8:30 a.m. (estimate) – Stop for restroom break

10:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. – American Jazz Museum Tour / Pictures

12:00 – 1:00 p.m. – Lunch (will need money)

2:15 p.m. – Arrive at the Kansas City Kansas Community College, check-in, unload

3:00 p.m. – Studio Band Warm-Up

3:30 p.m. – STUDIO BAND PERFORMANCE!

3:50 p.m. – Studio Band clinic

4:00 p.m. – Stage Band Warm-Up

4:30 p.m. – STAGE BAND PERFORMANCE!

4:50 p.m. – Stage Band Clinic

5:20 p.m. – Depart KCKCC

5:45 p.m. – Dinner at Gates BBQ (provided)

7:15 p.m. – Arrive at Wyndham Hotel (downtime, there is a pool, & others staying there)

10:00 p.m. – Students report to their rooms for inspection

11:00 p.m. – Lights Out


Thursday


6:45 a.m. – Wake up, get ready, and eat breakfast (provided at the hotel)

8:15 a.m. – Check-out and load the bus

8:30 a.m. – Depart hotel

9:00 a.m. – Arrive at BAC Instruments for tour

10:30 a.m. – Depart BAC Instruments

12:00 – 1:00 p.m. – Lunch (will need money)

2:30 p.m.’ish’ – Arrive in Neosho. Unload bus


Hotel: The hotel we are staying at Friday night is the Wingate by Wyndham 7333 NE Parvin Rd., Kansas City, MO (816) 200-2565. Chaperones and teachers will be on site. Rooms will be checked and doors will be taped by lights out.


Venue & Performance: The performance is at Kansas City Kansas Community College at 7250 State Avenue, Kansas City KS. This will be at their performing arts center at the northernmost entrance of their campus. The event is open to the public and free of charge. Bring with You: What you need to bring: your ‘all black’ performance clothes, your instrument, mallets, sticks, reeds, money for concessions/meals/etc., clothes to change into, an overnight bag, extra pillows and blankets if you prefer for sleep, swimsuit if you intend to swim in the time available at the hotel to do so, etc. Bring something to snack on if you will get hungry during the ride there or back.  Those that are also going to state solo/ensemble may want to bring an additional day’s worth of clothes and performance attire


Meals: Dinner Wednesday, and breakfast Thursday will be provided. Students will need money for lunch both Wednesday and Thursday.  Both lunches will be fast food establishments.  


Most Importantly: Be courteous to other groups and to each other over this two-day event! Remember, you are representing the band, music department, the school, and all of Neosho! Please conduct yourselves accordingly!
