Greater St. Louis Jazz Festival


Our final jazz contest of the season is coming up! Our schedule for the Greater St. Louis Jazz Festival Friday, April 22 through Saturday, April 23 is as follows:



Friday


8:00 a.m. – Report to the band room to load

8:30 a.m. – Depart high school

10:30 a.m.’ish’ – Stop for rest room break

12:15 – 1:15 p.m. – Lunch (will need money)

2:00 p.m. – Arrive at the Touhill Performing Arts Center UMSL, check-in, unload

2:20 p.m. – Stage Band Warm-Up

2:50 p.m. – Move to stage

3:00 p.m. – STAGE BAND PERFORMANCE!

3:40 p.m. – Stage Band Clinic

4:20 p.m. – Studio Band Warm-Up

5:00 p.m. – STUDIO BAND PERFORMANCE!

5:40 p.m. – Studio Band clinic

6:30 p.m. – Depart UMSL

7:00 p.m. – Dinner at local food establishments near hotel (will need money)

8:00 p.m. – Arrive at Pear Tree Inn (downtime, there is a pool, & others staying there)

10:30 p.m. – Students report to their rooms for inspection

11:00 p.m. – Lights Out



Saturday


7:15 a.m. – Wake up, get ready, and eat breakfast (provided at the hotel)

8:30 a.m. – Check-out and load the bus

8:45 a.m. – Depart hotel

9:15 a.m. – Arrive at the zoo for sight-seeing and pictures

11:00 a.m. – Depart zoo

12:00 – 1:00 p.m. – Lunch (will need money)

2:30 p.m ‘ish’. – Stop for rest room break

5:00 p.m.’ish’ – Arrive in Neosho. Unload bus


The hotel we are staying at Friday night is the Pear Tree Inn, 1201 Drury Lane, Arnold, MO 63010, (636) 296-9600. Chaperones and teachers will be on site. Rooms will be checked and doors will be taped by lights out.


The performance is at the Touhill Performing Arts Center at the University of Missouri Saint Louis. 1 Touhill Circle, St. Louis, MO. This event is open to the public and free of charge.


What you need to bring: your ‘cool gig’ clothes, your instrument, mallets, sticks, reeds, money for concessions/meals/etc., clothes to change into, an overnight bag, extra pillows and blankets if you prefer for sleep, swimsuit if you intend to swim in the time available at the hotel to do so, etc. Bring something to snack on if you will get hungry during the ride there or back.


Breakfast Saturday will be provided. Students will need money for lunch both Friday and Saturday as well as dinner on Friday. Lunches will be fast food establishments. Dinner on Friday the students have the option of fast food establishments or a bit nicer restaurants that are all located near the hotel.


Be courteous to other groups and to each other over this two-day event! Remember, you are representing the band, music department, the school, and all of Neosho! Please conduct yourselves accordingly!
