Claude T Smith Band Festival

The Claude T. Smith Band Festival with Composer in Residence, Viet Cuong, is on Thursday April 2nd. Our location for that event is at the University of Central Missouri.  We have two groups (our Concert Band, and our Symphonic Band) that will be performing that day in concert with other groups.  The schedule for Thursday, April 2nd is as follows:


5:45am Arrive at the high school and immediately load the bus/trailer

6:00am Depart the HS

8:45am Arrive at UCM / check-in and unload

9:00am FULL Band Warm-Up

10:00am Concert Band Clinic with Viet Cuong

11:00am Symphonic Band Clinic with Viet Cuong

12:00pm FULL Band Lunch (will need money) and get into performance clothes

12:45pm Get set for performance

1:00pm Concert in Hendricks Hall

2:30pm Load the bus/trailer

2:45pm Depart UCM

5:00pm'ish' Return to Neosho


What you need to bring: your instrument, music in a black binder with your clean name plate inside, concert clothes, as well as all sticks/mallets, reeds, valve oil/cork grease, etc. money for food


WHAT TO WEAR? Students without proper attire may be left behind

Boys - black dress slacks (NO JEANS, SHORTS, nor CARGO PANTS), Black dress shoes (NO TENNIS SHOES), black socks, black belt as well as a white collared dress shirt (no writing on shirt or undershirt).   No patterns.  Black tie and jacket are optional.


Girls - black dress pants, black dress, or black skirt (knee length or longer) with a white blouse or white dress top.  Dress shoes.  Heels are okay (3” or less), but prefer flats as we move around.  You can have other clothes to change in and out of when not performing but no pajamas or sweats.


Remember, you are representing yourself, the band, the school, and all of Neosho! Be courteous to other groups and to each other!  Please conduct yourselves accordingly at each location!
