Band Camp 2021

Camp will begin for some portions of the band in 2 weeks with everyone else in 3. Here is the information again. We have had some questions recently about camp that we wanted to clarify. Our band camp is only for high school band students. Though high school students for us does include students who were in 8th grade last year who will be freshmen in high school this coming school year. Camp is a requirement of our band class. Color guard, percussion, and leadership have camp beginning first. Freshmen wind students will join the morning of August 2. FULL BAND means (ALL Winds, Percussion, Color Guard, and Band Managers). Our band managers will need to meet on the morning and evening rehearsal blocks only the days of full band. Our color guard leadership have asked for one additional short rehearsal which I have added to the below information which was sent home with students at the end of the school year.

Band Camp and Rehearsals We wanted to send a reminder about summer band camp and rehearsals for the Wildcat Pride Marching Band’s 2021 season. We have an exciting show, “Outlaw Wanted”, and look to have another successful competition season. Band camp will kick-off another national campaign that will see our season ending with the Bands of America Grand National Championships held in Indianapolis, IN.

What you need... You will need standard band items like your instrument, reeds, cork grease, valve oil, sticks, mallets, pencil & music (in a binder with page protectors)... In addition, you will also need some items necessary for an outdoor activity. Sunblock (recommend SPF 50 or higher), a LARGE water bottle, tennis shoes, comfortable (school appropriate) athletic wear, sunglasses, and a hat are also necessary. Students will also want to bring or plan a sensible lunch.

Parent Preview Night At the end of our summer camp, the Wildcat Pride Marching Band hosts a “Family Preview Night” performance to showcase their accomplishments! This will be Friday, August 20 at 6pm in Bob Anderson Stadium and is open to all family & friends of the band! Students will wear their alternative marching uniform (uniform B) which will be khaki (tan shorts) and their 2021 band t-shirt.
