Our first trip of 2018 is upon us and will be at the MSSU Band Day on Saturday, September 8th! The schedule is as follows:
11:30 a.m. – Report to the band room, get instruments, and load
12:00 p.m. – Depart high school
12:30 p.m. – Arrive at MSSU, unload, and check in
12:50 p.m. – Move to stadium
1:00 p.m. – Clinics with the MSSU Band sections
1:45 p.m. – Combined mass rehearsal for half-time
2:30 p.m. – Band Olympics (games and activities promoting competition between the area programs)
3:30 p.m. – Move into the Leggett & Platt center for dinner (pizza and drinks will be provided)
4:30 p.m. – Change into performance uniforms (MSSU is providing a shirt, and they are also requesting that we wear blue jeans and tennis shoes which you will also need for the night’s performance uniform)
5:00 p.m. – Line up and head over to the stadium
6:00 p.m. – Kick Off (Go Lions!)
7:15 p.m.’ish’ – HALF TIME PERFORMANCE!!!!!
After the performance we will immediately load buses, trailers, and depart
8:30 p.m.’ish’ – Arrive in Neosho. Unload bus, and trailer.
What you need to bring: blue jeans, tennis shoes, and comfortable (but school appropriate clothes) to rehearse in during the day, your instrument, mallets, sticks, reeds, flags, rifles, and any money for concessions. You may also want to bring sun block, a hat, and sunglasses for the outdoor rehearsal.
This performance will be held during half-time at the MSSU football game at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, MO. Admission to the game is $15.
Be courteous to other groups and to each other! Remember, you are representing the band, music department, the school, and all of Neosho! Please conduct yourselves accordingly!
